Bur Dubai which literally means Mainland Dubai is a historic district, located on the western side of the Dubai Creek. It historically consisted of all districts between the western bank of the Creek and Jumeirah.

Cultural & Historical Tourism (walking distance - 2 km)

The 14 kilometer Creek is an inlet of the sea that cuts into the land. This Creek has been very important in Dubai's history and its emergence as a top class global city that is where traders and merchants met from nearby nations to conduct trading. The Creek side is also where the first Dubai settlement was build.
The Dubai Museum in the 18th-century Al Fahidi Fort is the oldest existing building in Dubai. It gives visitors an insight into the country's fascinating heritage including local antiquities as well as artifacts from African and Asian countries that traded with Dubai. Several dioramas show life in the emirate before the advent of oil, in addition to artifacts from recent discoveries as old as 3000 BC.

The district is also home to several mosques including the Grand Mosque, originally a school devoted to study of the Qur'an, known as a kuttab, which welcomed its first students in the year 1900 to learn the Qur'an by rote & the country's only Hindu temple, Shiva and Krishna Mandi.

Business District  (4 km away)

Bur Dubai is also known as Dubai city which is mainly due to that the real financial center of Dubai. The Dubai World Trade Centre is one of the world's busiest meeting and convention centers that hosts all the major exhibitions in the city such as Gulfood, GITEX, Arabian Travel Market and many others.

Traditional and modern Shopping (Walking Distance - 1.5 - 2 km)

Burjuman is a high-class shopping mall which has more than 300 leading stores that sell everything that a shopper would yearn for, including ladies and gents fashion wear, sportswear, electronics, leather goods, perfumes, optics and much more.
For traditional shopping, Souks known as the traditional Arabic market places where goods are bought and sold have to be visited. Dubai souks are bright, colorful, noisy and fascinating like any other market place. Shoppers can hop on to the abras (traditional water taxi) or small boats if they want to visit souks on the other side of Creek.
Exotic Destination (5km to the closest public beach)

Dubai has a long and scenic coastline dotted with clean and beautiful white sandy beaches. The soft sand, warm and crystal clear blue water, and all year round sunshine make Dubai an exciting beach holiday destination. Ideal for relaxing, sun bathing and walking; or indulging in a range of beach and water sports activities such as playing beach volley ball, swimming, surfing, sailing, kite surfing, paragliding and water skiing.
