Majestic Hotel scooped the award for ‘Best Overall Hotel of the Year’ during the ‘Emirates Salon Culinaire’ (ESC) competition held in Dubai recently. The Majestic Hotel F&B department wowed the 17 member international judging panel with an impressive antique-family-album theme and were subsequently awarded the Gold Medal for gala dinner table decoration & presentation.

The Emirates Salon Culinaire 2008 took place from 24 – 27 February. Salon Culinaire is a showcase for the food and hospitality industry and hundreds of F&B professionals from the GCC region participate each year. A panel of 15 international judges, approved and appointed by the World Association of Cooks Societies, evaluated the performance of the chefs and awarded the medals during the event.

The Salon Culinaire competition is focused on skills rather than competing against others. Gold, silver and bronze medals are therefore awarded to those that achieve pre-set international standards in the various categories. The whole ethos of the Emirates Salon Culinaire is the creation of an event dedicated to the culinary arts and the celebration of food and its accoutrements displayed in a variety of pleasing forms.
