Greek National Tourism Organization Hosts Cocktail Event During Arabian Travel Market Exhibition at Majestic Hotel.

Distinguished guests and dignitaries enjoyed an exquisite cocktail reception hosted by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) at Majesitc Hotel’s splendid poolside deck on the third day of the Arabian Travel Market exhibition. On May 8th, the GNTO ensured the event was a truly Greek experience with Greek music entertaining the guests, Greek delicacies from the hotel’s flagship Greek restaurant Elia and Greek products on display.

More than 140 guests viewed a presentation of Greece’s beautiful cultural, historic and archeological attractions as well as its tourist destinations as portrayed on giant screens.
Mr. Iraklis Valvis, the General Secretary of GNTO, gave a riveting speech about Greece’s tourism and conversed with many of the attendees about common interests between the UAE and Greece.

Both Greece and the UAE are considered in the top 20 tourist destinations in the world. Tourism is a major sector in both countries, contributing significantly to GDP and opportunities for bilateral tourism development abound between the two countries. The cocktail evening allowed an opportunity for closer ties for the UAE and Greece, who established diplomatic relations in 1971. Among the dignitaries attending the cocktail event were Mr. Costoulas, ambassador of Greece to the UAE and Mr. Marios Belibassakis, Commercial Attache of Greece to the UAE.

The Greek owner of Majestic Hotel, Mr. Economides was there to greet guests. Majestic Hotel was especially selected by the GNTO for the reception, as it is owned and run by a Greek businessman and showcases an authentic Greek restaurant featuring cuisine of one of the most well-known chefs of Greece, Yiannis Baxevanis.

The Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) is a Public Entity supervised by the Greek Ministry of Tourism. It was first established in 1927 and re-established in 1950 and since then the GNTO constitutes the ruling state agency for the tourism sector.

Majestic Hotel is a four star deluxe tower hotel of 28 floors, conveniently located in the heart of Bur Dubai. The hotel is owned and managed by a company headed by Greek businessman, Mr. Economides. The company is planning to expand in the future by creating a chain of hotel properties. Mr. Economides is also involved in the marina construction and chemical supply industry in the UAE.
